An economics graduate from one of the most renowned university in Thailand – Thammasat University -  Mr. Chanin Vongkusolkit also obtained an M.B.A. (Finance) from St. Louis University, Missouri (USA). In 2006, he was bestowed an honorary doctorate degree in Economics from Chiangmai University in recognition of his success in applying economics in his career that brings growth and prosperity to his company and the society.

Mr. Vongkusolkit started his profession as one of the founders of Banpu Public Company Limited and has been Chief Executive Officer since the establishment of Banpu in 1983 With his foresighted vision, Mr. Vongkusolkit has turned Banpu into a truly international company winning recognition as one of the  100 firms listed by Forbes magazine in its global ranking of “Best Under a Billion” for two times (2004 and 2006) and the latest Forbes Asia Fab 50 Award in December 2010. Under Mr.Vongkusolkit’s leadership, Banpu has been recognized as a well–planned listed company with high and consistent growth record, successfully blending of different cultures in its people with various nationalities especially Thai, Indonesian, Chinese,and Australian.

Mr. Vongkusolkit’s management principle lies on a decision making which is based on the systematic and reliable sources.  He has used his insights and experiences and managed to artistically apply them with the principle of economics to lead Banpu to the success while at the same time has dedicated his time and substantial resources to return something back to the society.

As a highly ethical professional, Mr. Vongkusolkit has been well-recognized by both local and international investors, thanks to his strong commitment in corporate governance, which is widely practiced at Banpu.  As a result, Mr. Vongkusolkit and Banpu have been bestowed with a lot of awards which, among a few, include the Best CEO in Asia’s mining companies by the Institutional Investors, and the Board of Directors of the Year by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) .The recognition by Finance Asia is the fourth rank on the Best Managed Company, the third rank on the Best Corporate Governance, and on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Thailand.
